PALM OS DEVICES

Symbol SPT1550

The Symbol SPT1550 is a lightweight, pocket sized PDA with an integrated bar code scanner.  Suitable for office and commercial environments, it has a rechargeable battery option in the cradle and can store data for up to 15,000 assets (approximately).  Available with serial or USB cradles.  View a SPT1550 brochure.

Symbol SPT1800

The Symbol SPT1800 is a rugged (IP 54 rated) PDA with an integrated bar code scanner.  Suitable for heavy office or industrial environment, it has a rechargeable battery and can store data for up to 60,000 assets (approximately).  Available with serial, USB, or Ethernet cradles.  View a SPT1800 brochure.

Symbol MC50

Intermec 700 Series

The Intermec 700 Series of PDAs offers rugged high performance mobile computing with an integrated bar code scanner.  Suitable for heavy office or industrial use, it has a rechargeable battery and can store data for up to 64,000 assets (approximately).  Available with USB or Ethernet cradles and wireless technology.  View a 700 Series brochure.

We’ll soon be releasing a Windows Mobile (CE, Pocket PC) version of the Asset Tracking Tool due to demand.  This will allow the ATT to be run a much larger variety of hardware.

In the meantime, if you already have a particular scanning device in mind, let us know what it is and we’ll verify that it will be compatible with the Asset Tracking Tool.

Other Windows PDAs

Many other Windows Mobile, Windows CE (version 3.0 and above) and Pocket PC PDA are suitable for Asset Tracking.  If an integrated bar code reader is unavailable, a Grabba bar code reading attachment may be available.  Please let us know if you have a device in mind that is not yet recommended on this site.

Symbol MC9000-G RFID

The Symbol MC9000-G RFID provides a rugged, PDA based platform for Asset Tracking with an integrated bar code reader and RFID reader/writer.  Suitable for heavy office and industrial use, it has a rechargeable battery and can store data for up to 64,000 assets (approximately) while providing simultaneous bar code and RFID reading capabilities.  Available with USB or Ethernet cradles and wireless technology.  View a MC9000-G RFID brochure.

Northern Apex TSR222

The Northern Apex TSR222 RFID reader/writer is an attachment for many PDAs.  When combined with a device with an integrated bar code reader, the TSR222 complements the PDA with RFID technology.  View a TSR222 brochure

WIRELESS SYSTEMS

Many PDA devices also support wireless communications using the 802.11b or 802.11g standards.  This technology provides a faster and often easier method for communicating Asset Tracking information.
